As much as I enjoy chatting to you, I'm often asked the same questions repeatedly. Please have a look through the following information and if you still have a question then send me an email at the bottom of this page.
Firstly and most importantly, you need to be motivated to learn. A willingness to put in the hours of practice, combined with some basic note reading skills are all you need to do this course. If you've had one year of classical piano lessons in your childhood, or play another instrument, you'll be fine. Obviously you'll also need a piano or keyboard of some sort with a sustain pedal. Although not essential, having a laptop, iPad or tablet that you could place near the piano would help, so that you can play along with the examples.
They're right here.
Piano improvisation techniques for modern pop songs can be applied directly to playing piano in a contemporary church worship environment, so yes, you will learn piano chords that you can use in your church or cell group. I was a church pianist for over a decade, and its through playing in a worship team that I learnt the bulk of my improvisation!
It's important that you go through all the information on this website, read the course descriptions which outline what each lesson contains, and watch the sample videos and tutorials. That way, you'll have a great idea of my teaching style and what is covered before you make the purchase. Refunds are not issued if you find the material isn't exactly what you're after. If in doubt, send us an email with any questions before you buy and we'll answer all your questions!
Yes, if none of the files have been downloaded, we'll give you a full refund if you request it.
The Lesson videos are 1280 x 720 pixels in a Quicktime .MOV format. This resolution and format was chosen to achieve sufficiently high definition whilst keeping the files at a moderate size for downloading. If you're a Mac user, Quicktime is already installed on your Mac as part of the operating system so you're ready to go. If you're a Windows user, you can either download a free Quicktime player or you can view the videos using your internet browser (eg. Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer) with a Quicktime plugin.
The lessons get progressively longer and range from around 25mins to just under an hour. Each lesson is downloaded as a single ZIP file containing the video file(s) and a worksheet PDF. The size of each ZIP file is anywhere between 150MB to 550MB per lesson.
Once you've made your purchase, you'll arrive on a page containing the links to download the lessons. You'll also receive an email with the same download links. Each link expires after 25 attempts or within 10 days, whichever is reached first. If you don't receive your download links within 10 minutes of making the purchase, please email Quaverbox. After you've downloaded each ZIP file, you'll need to unzip it using an app like WinZip (Windows) or Stuffit Expander (Mac). You'll then end up with a Worksheet PDF and the lesson video file.
The Quaverbox Improvisation Manual is a must book for anyone wanting to play piano. It is simple, clear and so easy to understand. Great job!
