Learn contemporary piano chords

All your questions answered

As much as I enjoy chatting to you, I'm often asked the same questions repeatedly. Please have a look through the following information and if you still have a question then send me an email at the bottom of this page.

What are the requirements of the Quaverbox Course?

Firstly and most importantly, you need to be motivated to learn. A willingness to put in the hours of practice, combined with some basic note reading skills are all you need to do this course. If you've had one year of classical piano lessons in your childhood, or play another instrument, you'll be fine. Obviously you'll also need a piano or keyboard of some sort with a sustain pedal. Although not essential, having a laptop, iPad or tablet that you could place near the piano would help, so that you can play along with the examples.

Where are the answers to the exercises in the Quaverbox Manual?

They're right here.

Will this improvisation course help me learn piano chords for church?

Piano improvisation techniques for modern pop songs can be applied directly to playing piano in a contemporary church worship environment, so yes, you will learn piano chords that you can use in your church or cell group. I was a church pianist for over a decade, and its through playing in a worship team that I learnt the bulk of my improvisation!

What is the screen resolution and format of the videos?

The Lesson videos are 1280 x 720 pixels in a Quicktime .MOV format. This resolution and format was chosen to achieve sufficiently high definition whilst keeping the files at a moderate size for downloading. If you're a Mac user, Quicktime is already installed on your Mac as part of the operating system so you're ready to go. If you're a Windows user, you can either download a free Quicktime player or you can view the videos using your internet browser (eg. Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer) with a Quicktime plugin.

How long are the lessons and how big are the downloads?

The lessons get progressively longer and range from around 25mins to just under an hour. Each lesson is downloaded as a single ZIP file containing the video file(s) and a worksheet PDF. The size of each ZIP file is anywhere between 150MB to 550MB per lesson.

How soon will I receive the download links after I purchase the lessons?

Once you've made your purchase, you'll arrive on a page containing the links to download the lessons. You'll also receive an email with the same download links. Each link expires after 25 attempts or within 10 days, whichever is reached first. If you don't receive your download links within 10 minutes of making the purchase, please email Quaverbox. After you've downloaded each ZIP file, you'll need to unzip it using an app like WinZip (Windows) or Stuffit Expander (Mac). You'll then end up with a Worksheet PDF and the lesson video file.

Your say about the Quaverbox Course

Wow! You made it look so simple in the videos. Then I tried it and I realised it really was simple! I don’t know why nobody else teaches piano improvisation the way you do. Seriously, I learnt more in the first 5 videos than I did in 5 years of piano lessons. You’ve got a real talent for teaching!

Which methods of payment do you accept?

Quaverbox only uses the Paypal gateway, which means you can pay via Paypal, Visa or Mastercard. You don't need to have a Paypal account when paying by credit card, but you'll need to be in a Paypal approved country as the credit card payments are processed by Paypal.

I didn't receive any download links!

This does happen occasionally. If there are any difficulties with downloads, don't get upset. Just send Quaverbox an email with your Paypal payment receipt and we'll make sure you get your videos one way or another!

My download links expired before I could finish downloading everything.

Not a problem. Forward us the original email that contained your download links and we'll send you some fresh links.

I can't download it onto my iPad!

You'll have to take this issue up with Apple! To get the video files onto your iPad, you'll need to download them first onto your PC or Mac then move them onto your iPad via iTunes or use an app like DropBox. You can also stream them to your iPad using VLC Streamer.

I've bought the first 10 lessons in the previous lesson set (before 2014). How do I buy Lesson 11 and 12?

Lesson 11 and 12 are available for individual sale for $8 (AUD) right here
Buy Lesson 11 - Runs and Fills (Part 1)
